School of Management and Technology, Santarém Polytechnic University, Portugal
Organized by the Accounting and Finance Department of Santarém Polytechnic University
For the 28th Raymond Konopka Memorial, we are pleased to welcome Jill Atkins from Cardiff Business School, UK; Warren Maroun from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa; and Shahzad Uddin from the University of Essex, UK, all joining us as keynote speakers.
The first Workshop on Accounting and Management Control was organized for the first time in Madrid in 1991 and from 1993 it was named Raymond Konopka in memory of the former professor of Instituto de Empresa. The 28th edition will be held the 22 and 23 January 2026 in Santarém (Portugal).
The workshop constitutes a discussion forum for researchers with an interest in the organizational and social aspects of accounting systems. Many researchers have widened the traditional limits of accounting to consider its impact on organizations and on society in general. This is why the workshop values the social implication of accounting as well as the interdisciplinarity of papers. Interdisciplinarity refers to strong relationships between accounting and other organizational fields (e.g. strategy, finance, marketing, HRM, CSR or R&D) as well as other fields, such as sociology, history or environmental studies.
This workshop has become a reference event to discuss high quality research papers in the wider field of accounting and management control. Papers presented at this workshop have been published in journals such as: Accounting, Organizations and Society; European Accounting Review; Organization Studies; Abacus; Accounting and Business Research; Journal of Management Accounting Research; Advances in Accounting; Management Accounting Research; Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, or Critical Perspectives on Accounting.
